Description

She is another aspect of Shakti as worshipped in the western part of India. She is the goddess of chastity and fertility, in her maiden aspect of the incarnation of Hinglaj Devi. Her mount is a rooster. She is especially a favored diety for non-binary transgender folk in this part of the country.

Legend has it Bahucharaji was a daughter of Bapal Detha of the Charan community. She and her sister were on a journey in a caravan when a marauder named Bapiya attacked them. Bahuchara and her sister killed themselves by cutting off their breasts. Bapiya was cursed and became impotent. The curse was lifted only when he worshipped Bahuchara Mata by dressing and acting like a woman.

The frame has been made by myself, using only handtools, with joinery. I use wood from the teak tree for this. I finish them using home refined edible linseed oil, so no artificial chemicals. the print has mount board over it, so that it does not touch the glass. The frame outer size is 8.5 by 11.5 inches.
