Description
The iconic aluminium tea kettle popular in india gets another lease of life upcycled as a planter. In it grows Hatjod or Cissus quadrangularis, the medicinal succulent famous for its bone setting properties. It is called as Pirandai in tamil and the first time I saw it was in Auroville, Tamil Nadu. A small piece grinded intona chutney can be consumed by anyone once ina while as a bone tonic. You can find recipes on YouTube.
The painting is handmade watercolor. I have kept the background blank to highlight the subject. The composition is top heavy and i imagine it placed on a level which is high on the wall for an airy effect. The empty blank space also enhances the airyness of this painting. The happy coincidence is that the plant itself works on the air element, vata dosha in help heal bones.
You can choose to get only the painting or with framing. I make the frames myself with handmade tools, and joinery at the corners. The size of the painting is 7.5 x 18 inches. The size of the frame is about 11 x 22 inches.
